The Loss of Friends

It was all so fast, he jumped into G-0Q86, and there were some of those pirates who had been harassing him and his ship whenever he decided to jump clone out here to help Concord in the fight against the Angel cartel.

It was only a Curse and an Ishtar, so he thought he could take them. He was in the "Ray Of Matar", a Hurricane class Battle Cruiser that could deliver one helluva a punch, so he opened fire when they locked him.

He didn't count on the Curse being able to move out of range of his guns and still be able to neutralize his capacitor, or the fact that the Ishtar could tank his guns. So he tried to jump back through the gate, but gate control wouldn't let him due to his recent combat messing with jump calibration.

He ordered engineering to hurry with those damned calibrations, and kept the comm link with the gate open, asking them to just let him through, calibrations be damned. They told him no, they would not risk the gate.

He couldn't warp away and he couldn't jump, so he ordered all the crew that were on board to the escape pods, and hoped beyond hope that the calibrations would be done before he lost his hull .

What he didn't know was that his XO had remained aboard to try and make sure all of the crew made it off. Not all made it off in time, including her and a few of the gunnery crew. The gunnery crew woke up in Minmatar space with a couple days amnesia, his XO didn't.

He had made sure it was only a skeleton crew that was aboard the Ray, because he knew it would be possible to get gate camped by pirates so easily out here in outlaw space. He'd even brought alcohol and an exotic dancer(with marine escort of-course) on board to help ease any tension of the crews possible impending doom.

It hadn't been enough. and she was gone.

It had been his fault, if he hadn't decided to engage those pirates she would still be alive. But the damned clone backup for her failed, she was not reborn, and now he felt alone.

She had been one of his best friends for a long time, and a damned good XO too. She was gone now though, and there wasn't a damned thing he could do about it except move on and keep working to help the Minmatar peoples anyway he could. Its what she would have wanted.
